Articles
1.K. KokoszkiewiczEt futura panda siue de Catulli carmine sexto corrigendo (Catullus 6) LA Hermes 132, 1/2004, 125-8 (JSTOR) 4

An emendation to Catull. 6.13, read: cur? non tam latera effututa panda<t>.

Note: after publishing the article it came to my attention that this same conjecture had already been suggested by an anonym in one of the renaissance MSS. of Catullus.

2.K. KokoszkiewiczA. Gellius Noctes Atticae 16.2.6: tamquam si te dicas adulterum negent LA Mnemosyne LVIII, 1/2005, 132-5 (JSTOR) 4

A supplement to a lacuna in Gell. 16.2.6, read: (...) tamquam si te dicas adulterum. <Sic quidem multi putant, sed mea sententia minime capiuntur, qui se desisse facere> adulterium negent.

3.A. E. Housman (tr. K. Kokoszkiewicz)Użycie myślenia w krytyce tekstu PL Meander 3/2005, 325-37 13

4.K. KokoszkiewiczCatullus 14b, 16, 41, 43, 55, 58b: adnotationes criticae LA Mnemosyne LX, 4/2007, 608-27 (JSTOR) 20 Emendations to Catullus' poems:
  • frg. 14b: as Avantius (1502) suggested, insert after 16.13, the corruption explained paleographically.
  • 43.5: suggested deletion on paleographical grounds.
  • frg. 58b: insert after 55.14, the corruption explained paleographically.
  • 55.17 read: non qui Pegaseo ferar uolatu.
  • 55.15-18: explained one-breath references to Talos, Ladas, Perseus, and Rhesus.
  • 55.4 read: te in circo, te in moenibus Cybebes.
  • 55.9 read: "occultastis" sic reflagitabam.
  • 55.11 read: quaedam <"en, en"> inquit sinum reduc<ens>.
  • 55.27-8 read: cum te lacteolae tenent puellae / sic linguam clauso tenens in ore.
  • 55.32 defended the sense of nostri.
  • 55: few words about peculiarities of the metre.

Note: after publishing the article it came to my attention that my conjecture for Catull. 55.28 sic - tenens had already been suggested by Birt in the 19th century.

5.A. E. Housman (tr. K. Kokoszkiewicz)Prozodia, szaleństwo, metoda PL Meander 1-2/2006, 99-112 14

  • 10.27: an argument to confirm deletion of me,
  • 14.14: defended cj. miser instead of MSS. die,
  • 40.1: read Rau[id]e
8.K. Kokoszkiewicz Katullus: życie i ciemne sprawki PL Mówią Wieki 12/2008 (588), 8-12 5

An essay on Catullus and political invectives written by him.

9.K. KokoszkiewiczCatullus 63.74: roseis ut hinc labellis sonitus adiit LA Mnemosyne LXII, 1/2009, 108-10 (JSTOR) 3

Emendations and critical remarks to Catul. 63.74:

  • Frölich's conjecture son<us ed>itus is better than Bentley's son<itus c>itus;
  • MSS. adiit is either copied from the end of 63.87, or influenced by 63.75 ad aures;
  • recent MSS. hic should be preferred over principal MSS. hinc or early conjecture huic;
  • ubi should be read instead of ut as the counterpart to 63.76 ibi.

Note: after publishing the article it came to my attention that that last one had already been suggested by Trappes-Lomax in 2007.

10.K. KokoszkiewiczFestus 508L: VOISGRAM LA Mnemosyne LXII, 3/2009, 477 (JSTOR) 1

Read: VOLSERAM.

11.K. KokoszkiewiczPlinius Naturalis Historia 18.235 et 32.36: de matutina et uespera deque uocabulario quodam LA Rheinisches Museum für Philologie 152, 2/2009, 221 (JSTOR) 1

A proposed correction to an entry in the Oxford Latin Dictionary and to Pliny's text itself. On OLD's page 1086, s.v. matutinus, section 1b: delete the quotation from Pliny. In Pliny's text 18.235 and 32.36 read matutino.

13.K. KokoszkiewiczM. Terentius Varro, De lingua Latina 5.43: quod ea quatum dicitur Velabrum LA Philologus 153, 2/2009, 250-4 5

All emendation attempts made thus far share a common mistake. Read: quod ea qua tum <uehebantur regio> dicitur Velabrum or quod ea qua <tum uehebantur regio ad merca>tum dicitur Velabrum.

14.K. KokoszkiewiczCatullus 29.20: hunc gallie timet et britannie. LA Acta Antiqua Academiae Scientiarum Hungaricae 49, 2/2009, 185-8 4

The article supports Scaliger's deletion of Catul. 29.20.

15.K. KokoszkiewiczVarro De lingua Latina 5.52: horum deorum arae. LA Acta Antiqua Academiae Scientiarum Hungaricae 49, 2/2009, 189-90 2

The obscurity of this sentence: horum deorum arae, a quibus cognomina habent, in eius regionis partibus sunt causes it to be suspect. Perhaps it is to be read: horum deorum arae, a quibus co<lles co>gnomina habent, in eius regionis partibus sunt.

It is argued that -velli is the only perfect tense form of -vello which is acceptable in the Republican literature, and that the well known variant -vulsi (-volsi) apparently belongs to the vulgar language of that period. Therefore:

  • -vulsi forms should not be conjectured in Republican writers,
  • Catullus would not have used a -vulsi form in his poems,
  • a 16th century conjecture devellit should be adopted in Catull. 63.5 instead of the widely accepted, 19th century conjecture devolsit.
